The participation of young mothers in community health programming is vital for creating inclusive, responsive, and sustainable health interventions.
Involving these underserved populations ensures that programs are tailored to real-life experiences, cultural contexts, and the specific needs of young families. Moreover, engaging young mothers empowers them with knowledge, builds confidence, and strengthens community networks, leading to improved health-seeking behaviors and outcomes.
Therefore, on June 5, 2015, AFROCAB Zimbabwe met with young mothers and fathers at Mkoba Polyclinic to gather insights and experiences on perceived gaps in HIV healthcare services.
During the same meeting, misconceptions about AHD were addressed to foster community awareness.
This consultative meeting, which brought together 19 participants, was made possible with support from the Unitaid-funded and Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI)-led THRIVE project.
