Johannesburg: Stakeholders talk AHD

ree

Stakeholder engagement is crucial in preventing and managing Advanced HIV Disease (AHD) because it ensures that the voices of communities most affected by the epidemic are heard and reflected in decision-making processes.

By actively involving people living with HIV, civil society groups, healthcare providers, researchers, and policymakers, AFROCAB fosters inclusive dialogue, builds trust, and promotes shared ownership of HIV responses.

This collaborative approach leads to more effective, community-centered solutions, strengthens accountability, and enhances the uptake of interventions tailored to real needs. Engaging stakeholders also empowers communities, helping to reduce stigma and improve access to treatment and care across Africa.

Therefore, in October, 2024, AFROCAB met with various stakeholders in Rosebank, Johannesburg, to share best practices and draw a roadmap for implementing the Unitaid -funded, Clinton Health Access Initiative (CHAI)-led THRIVE project.
